Personalized Plate Request
Welcome! The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles has enabled this service to allow customers to request a personalized plate from the DMV. This service lets you request a personalized plate and pay required fees quickly and conveniently using a credit card or electronic check. The DMV receives instant notification of our payment and can begin processing your request quicker than if you mail a check.
Important Notes:
1. To qualify for a personalized license plate, the vehicle must have a current Class A (for cars and trucks weighing 10,000 pounds or less) or a current Class G (for motorcycles) registration and license plate.
2. Your fees due will be calculated based on the expiration date of your current registration.
3. If your registration is expiring within 60 days, you will be required to enter your personal property tax payment information or attach an assessor’s affidavit.
4. The DMV will review your application and documents submitted, provided the request is complete and at least one of your personalized selections is: available; does not conflict with regular series plate number; and is not obscene or possible offensive, your request will be processed.
5. When you receive your personalized plate, the currently assigned plate and registration card must be returned to the DMV within ten (10) days.

Availability
You may select up to eight (8) characters for Standard or Scenic; six (6) Characters for 9-11, Wildlife, or Motorcycle; and up to five (5) for Patriotic plates. The minimum number of characters allowed is two (2). Symbols, punctuation marks, and numbers 1 to 2000 are not allowed.
Show your choices below in order of preference. Your first valid selection that is available will be produced. Place the characters in the boxes exactly as you want them to appear on the plate. All characters will be centered on the plate unless you clearly specify otherwise.
