Synopsis
|
With the exception of grievant, all maintenance personnel are multiclassified. Multi-classification is necessary for labor efficiency. Grievant must also perform a variety of duties which is reflected by his salary supplement exceeding the state minimum standards. Grievant alleges that a carpenter's position in the county-wide crew became was not posted but was filled by the improper reclassification when an employee became ill. Grievance denied; no vacancy existed in the county-wide maintenance crew as employees' job was held for his upon his return to employment from his illness. No additional maintenance personnel were needed or required during the approved absence of the ill employee and a reclassification to fill a temporary position was needed as a matter of law.
